I'm 26 weeks and several times a day get uncomfortable tightenings acros my womb-like contractions-and I have to sit down whilst they happen. They only last a minute or so. Is there something wrong?

These sound very like Braxton Hicks contractions, may occur several times a day and shouldn’t last longer than a minute or two and are completely normal. They may become more frequent as your pregnancy advances. If they are very painful-particularly if associated with other symptoms-you should consult your midwife or doctor.
