I have a sharp pain after passing urine but this is alleviated by sitting down. What could this be?

Remember that urinary tract infections (otherwise called cystitis or UTI) often feel different in pregnancy. The classic features are burning after passing urine, stinging, passing urine more frequently and possibly seeing blood in your urine. If the infection becomes more generalised-typically if the kidneys are affected, you become feverish, shivery, nauseous and this can be very serious. So you should seek treatment immediately.
