Do you still need a doctor if you are being looked after by a midwife?
This depends on which country you are in. For example, in the UK if you're having a completely normal pregnancy then you may only ever see a midwife and/or your family doctor. If any concerns or complications arise, you would be referred to an obstetrician. If you've had complications in a previous pregnancy, then you might be looked after largely by an obstetrician-but usually with input from a midwife too.
