How safe are the tablets that my Doctor gave me for acne now that I''m pregnant? Can I continue taking them?

Almost certainly you cannot. The most commonly prescribed anti-acne drugs are based on vitamin A derivatives (retinoic acid) or antibiotics such as tetracyclines. These are potentailly harmful to the developing fetus in pregnancy, may cause malformations and must be avoided right from the start. If you have been exposed to these drugs, particularly in the first trimester of pregnnacy, then you should seek advice from your Obstetrician.
