How bad is coffee when you are pregnant?

The component of coffee that has raised concerns is the stimulant caffeine. There have been numerous studies on coffee consumption in pregnancy and none show any clear consistent results. Several of these studies have some pretty major shortcomings in failing to take into account mum's alcohol and smoking habits as well. In short, there is no evidence that taking up to three cups of tea of coffee per day is in any way harmful to your developing baby.
