I am terrified of giving birth and constantly worry my baby might die in labour. Is giving birth safe?

The risk of anything going wrong in labour is extremely low nowadays. Less than 1 baby per thousand dies because of complications due to labour in modern maternity units with careful monitoring of you and baby. Below you will see a section of a CTG-or fetal heart rate-trace; this can detect if baby is compromised in labour. If you remain concerned about giving birth, we hope that you can talk things through with your doctor or midwife who should be able to reassure you.
