Can I take over the counter sleeping pills? I am 12 weeks and having a hard time sleeping.

Most sleeping tablets are regarded as safe outside the first trimester of pregnancy-you must check the specific one with your pharmacist or doctor. However it is better to avoid them if you can, because although they do allow you to sleep, they often don't allow high quality sleep. This means that you may well feel tired the following day. Simple things like improving your environment, massage, calming music often allow you to nod off. Sometimes, these measures don't work and then sleeping tablets can be used for a few days only to help you over a bad patch.
