I am 38 weeks pregnant and feel a constant wetness. How can I tell if my waters are leaking or not?

It is quite common to have an increase in vaginal mucous in late pregnancy; this is usually clear or whitish and thick and sticky. If you are leaking clear watery fluid or just aren't sure, then you need to be examined using a sterile speculum by your doctor or midwife. This allows your cervix to be seen, and if your 'waters have gone' (membranes ruptured) then amniotic fluid is seen draining through.
