You can't. However, you could talk to him to find out why. If it is something simple, which it may well be, by talking he may well change his mind. Remember, it has become very 'in' for men to get extensively involved with all aspects of childbirth, and not all men are comfortable with it. Ask him for his reasons and really listen to his answers. Maybe through compromise you will be able to come to an arrangement that is suitable to you both.
