I suffered from cholestasis of pregnancy in my previous pregnancy. What are the risks of the condition, and is it likely to happen again?

Cholestasis is a rare condition of pregnancy, which affects your liver, often causing itching. It can, rarely, compromise your baby and there is then a risk of stillbirth and premature delivery. This is why you are normally monitoreed very closely if you are diagnosed with the condition. There is a high risk of the condition recurring in subsequent pregnancies, and if you require further information about this then your doctor may refer you to speak to a specialist in fetal-maternal medicine.
