It is not seen as that important anymore. This is because your weight used to be used as an indicator of problems, while nowadays there are other, more accurate ways of determining mother and baby''s health. For example, instead of deciding a mother may have pregnancy induced diabetes because she has suddenly put on weight, a screening blood test is often done at an early stage which is much more precise.
