Does alcohol consumption in the days following conception but before pregnancy diagnosis affect the fetus?

Almost certainly not. Very heavy alcohol consumption may affect the chances of the embryo implanting into the womb at around 4 weeks of pregnancy (approximately 2 weeks after conception). It would not have an effect on the embryo's development until, at the earliest, 6 weeks of pregnancy.
