I had a miscarriage in in my last pregnancy and I am now seven weeks pregnant. My doctor has advised against sex for the next three months. Why is this?

The advice used to be that avoiding sex in early pregnancy reduced the risk of miscarriage. There is however no real evidence that sex is linked to miscarriage, or that abstaining from sex reduces the risk of miscarriage.
