I'm 10 weeks now and have used antibiotics and painkillers during the early part of my pregnancy. Is there anything that can be done to check for fetal abnormalities?

Although we caution against the use of most drugs especially in the first trimeter of pregnancy, this is more a case of being on the safe side rather than the likelihood of a drug causing a fetal abnormality. There are, in fact, relatively few drugs that have been shown to cause fetal abnormalities. But it should be possible to arrange early detailed scans at 11-14 weeks, and a 'mini' detailed scan at 16 weeks, through a specialist fetal medicine unit.
