How long should you wait after having a baby to get pregnant again? Are there any negative effects of having one baby after another?

There is no set answer to this question. But remember that stores of vitamins and minerals, especially iron and calcium, are low in you after having a baby, especially after breastfeeding. Psychologically and emotionally, looking after a baby is a very happy but demanding time. It is probably best to wait at least 6 months, until you fill emotionally and physically on really good form again before trying, and make sure that your iron stores are up and you''re taking folic acid.
