What can I do to get back in shape?

With everything else that''s going on you are unlikely to focus on this as soon as you give birth but the sooner you start, the sooner you will see results. Try to do your pelvic floor exercises as soon as you can. This is simple to do, for example, while sitting feeding the baby. Pull your tummy in and then imagine you need a wee and draw up the muscles as if you are resisting having a wee. Try to stop and start weeing on the toilet. You will lose weight automatically for the first few weeks as the excess fluid leaves your body. The fat stores you laid down in pregnancy will go if you breast feed but you will need to work at this if you chose to bottle feed. As soon as you feel ready try to do some form of exercise. If possible go out to a class. This is for several reasons. Firstly you will start to tone up and lose those pounds/kilos, but more importantly it will give you space and time to yourself which will make you feel more engergetic, and emotionally uplifted.
