I feel really down, I ''m not coping well and I am afraid to tell anyone...have I got postnatal depression?

It''s possible, but please remember that all women feel like this at some stage after giving birth. It is due to a combination of hormones, anticlimax and doubts about your ability to cope. Add to this little or no sleep, never able to finish a hot meal, no long soaks in the bath, no time for just you or just the two of you anymore, is it any wonder your upset. We tend to think that women react by almost grieving once it registers that life as you knew it, is over. Looking around you at what you appear to have swapped your old life for, it''s no wonder you feel short changed. Try to think you''re very normal at the moment. Talk to someone. Don''t think you have to do it all on your own. That''s what the professionals and selected friends/ family are for. If you really feel you can''t cope, are very tearful, can''t eat or sleep properly and are at the end of your tether then you may have depression and should see your family doctor.
