I don''t want friends and family smoking around my baby, am I right to insist on this?

Yes you are. Babies'' lungs are very small and sensitive. Smoke of any kind will irrate their lungs, and paralyse the hairs which filter out foriegn particles. There is also a well established link between smoking and cot death. Your baby will also be more likely to develop asthma and chest infections, so you are quite right to ban smoking around your baby.
