How do I breastfeed?

We would say the most important thing is for you to be comfortable. So take your pain killers if needed before hand. Have a wee. Get yourself settled in a chair, on the bed/sofa, with all you will need to hand. Plenty of cushions and a drink nearby...are you sitting comfortably..then begin.. lift your breast and tease the baby''s mouth with your nipple. When the baby opens her mouth, put all of your nipple to the back of the baby''s throat; this should be one fluid movement. If the baby clamps her jaws down on your nipple then it''s not correct. Open your baby''s mouth and try again. there is no point in suffering as you will if the baby is not latched on properly. (Run your own tongue along the roof of your mouth...right at the back it suddenly goes from hard to soft....your nipple should be at the soft bit of your baby''s mouth.)
