How should I hold my baby...I worry about hurting his head?

It very scary holding a baby the first few times especially if he''s a bit of a wriggler! The very worst that can happen is that you drop the baby... but this is highly unlikely and even if it does, babies are much more resilient than people think. However, their little heads are vulnerable because the bones are so soft at this stage. So you will need to support the head but more importantly the neck, as muscle tone is not yet well developed. Support the neck with one hand and lift with the other hand under the bottom. Talk to your baby as you do this.
