How often should my baby be weighed?

Strong views on this one I''m afraid...all babies loose 10% of their birth weight and should be back to their birth weight at about 10 days old and then continue to gain weight. THIS IS NORMAL. For this reason we do not think babies should be weighed (if feeding well and weeing/pooing) any more than say on the 3rd day and then not until 10 days old. Normality in this case can really undermine a mother''s confidence, as weighing the baby often only confirms what is normal but all the mum hears is the fact that the baby is still loosing or not gaining weight (which is normal). The knock on effect of this is that the mother starts to doubt her ability, especially if breast feeding. Concentrate on what the first sentence says and try hard to ignore the weight until baby is ten days old.
