Will an instrumental delivery (forceps or ventouse) damage my baby?

Certainly, when the baby comes out he will have marks on his face (forceps) or head (ventouse) associated with the delivery. Some swelling and bruising are common but fade very quickly. The method of delivery should not damage your baby, in fact it is done because there is a risk to your baby from some other factor. Your baby may have a bit of a headache for a few days and be unsettled at worst. The bruising may also leave your baby''s jaundice more severe in the first few days.
