How much pain can I expect with an instrumental delivery?

Probably less than with a normal one, because you are encouraged to have strong pain relief prior to the delivery in the form of an epidural or spinal anaaesthetic. This should numb you to most or all of the pain. Failing this, the doctor performing the delivery will often give you a ''pudendal'' block which will take away much of teh pain from the lower vagina.
