How likely is it that I will need a blood transfusion after delivery?

Very unlikely. Blood loss at deliveries today is usually minimal and if you do haemorrhage, depending on your pre-delivery blood levels, the medics will give fluids first, before blood. If a blood transfusion is suggested, the decision to have it will be yours although in an emergency you would be very unwise to refuse it. Sometimes, a blood transfusion is life-saving and doctors only give it if it''s really important.
