Can the doctors speed up my labour?

Yes, but not just because you want them to. By breaking your waters or putting up a drip with syntocinon (oxytocin) in it to increase your contractions, your labour will speed up but also contractions become more intense, so you may require more pain relief. The combination of strong and regular contractions can sometimes lead to the baby becoming ''distressed'' which is why the baby''s heart beat will normally be monitored if your labour is being stimulated or induced.
