After a long, exhausting, prolonged labour you may only experience relief that you made it intact! You won''t choose to meet your partner''s boss for the first time after running on a treadmill, makeupless for an hour, would you? So if you do not feel struck by a thunderbolt of adoration immediately, panic not. Give yourself and each other breathing space to try and let the impact of what you have just been through register. Do not feel guilty and talk about your uncertainties. Your midwife is not going to be shocked...she''s almost certainly seen this before and will be able to reassure you that you are simply reacting normally. |
