Can pelvic inflamatory disease (PID) cause infertility?

Yes. PID is an infection which damages the lining of the tubes (through which the egg travels from the ovary to womb). After 1 episode of PID the risk of infertility because of blocked tubes is about 10%, 20% after 2 episodes and up to 60% after three episodes. However this is a problem which can be treated today.
