What is a hysterosalpingogram (HSG)?

It''s a type of X-Ray in which a contrast medium (liquid that shows up brightly on X-ray) is injected through the vagina and cervix to see the outline of the womb (uterine cavity) and whether the fallopian tubes are blocked or not. It is one of the tests that is often done for infertility.
