What happens once the placenta is gone and I have had my stitches?

Once the delivery is complete, your midwife has a variety of jobs to get on with and tends to go to do them in order that you and your partner can get to know the new arrival. At this stage you can do more or less what you want! You may be happy to stay where you are and cuddle baby. You may be desperate to shower and get out of bloody sheets etc, You may want to eat...who knows, but you can do within reason what ever you want.
