What is transition?

''Transition'' is a period of time which occurs late in first stage of labour and can last minutes or a couple of hours. As your cervix comes to being fully open and the baby moves through the birth canal and your body gears itself for the delivery. You may feel fed up, aggressive and just want to get on with things. You will have been in labour for many hours if or when it occurs. You feel vulnerable, scared, tired, hungry, sick and possibly a bit out of control. It does pass and you need those around you to be very supportive. Midwives are very used to this but your partner will not be so explain how your feeling. It is not actually as bad as it sounds.
