A friend recommends I give birth in water, what do you think?

Sitting in warm water is an excellent form of pain relief especially early on, in first stage. Water supports the weight of your body allowing things to happen naturally. Giving birth in water may reduce the risk or extent of you tearing at delivery. Provided your labour is progressing normally, and it is planned with staff, qualified to conduct your delivery with the proper facilities, and the obstetric doctors are happy about it, why not try it...at very worst you change your mind and climb out! Many women have the early stage of their labour in water, then give birth on ''dry land''. A water birth takes some organisation, so speak with your midwife who will tell you, if it is suitible for you and how to organise it.
