Is a natural labour and delivery the best?

''Best'' is not the word to choose. It is ideally suited to those with a high pain threshold, a labour occuring within a short to normal time frame, to someone who is well supported in labour and is fairly fit. Socially we have been conditioned to believe that this kind of birth is common, average, normal and what every woman should aspire to. We say ''Each to her own!''. Forget the ideology and dogma...we are in the 21st century now and there is such a thing as choice and pain relief. Don''t determine in tablets of stone what is going to happen. You can''t know until you go into labour how you are going to feel or what best will help you cope. ''Best'' is what delivers you of a safe and healthy baby, at no detriment to your well-being, and using what ever it takes to get you through it most comfortably.
