What do I need to do to get ready for my home birth?

If having a home birth you will often have direct access throughout your preganancy to a team of midwives who will care for you before and after, two of whom will attend you in labour. Discuss with these midwives at one of your visits what they wish you to do/provide. There will be a list of essential items, as well as desirables which they will advise you on. Some they will provide and some will be your resposiblity. You need to consider where you want to give birth, the items you will want to dress your baby in and clean them with. Ask your midwife to detail the specifics of the items you need for your delivery well in advance so you have time to organise everything. Don''t forget to arrange for care/supervision if you have children already.
