You should pack a bag from about 34 weeks onwards as a planned rather than a panic procedure. You can check with your midwife for advice specific to you and your place of birth. Generally you should include, toiletries, tee shirts/nighties, underwear, slippers/shoes, breast pads, sanitary towels (not tampons) and things for you to do in labour/afterwards. Specific to labour, you may want to bring massage oils/tools, hot water bottle (for backache) music, possibly a mirror (to see the baby ''coming out'') and food and drink for your birthing companion(s).
