I was told my placenta was ''low'' at my 20 week scan. Will I need a Caesarean?

You are unlikely to need a Caesarean on this account. As your pregnancy proceeds, the placenta will almost certainly migrate upwards, away from your cervix, as the muscle of the womb stretches and grows. Usually, if a placenta is found to be ''low lying'' on a scan at 20-24 weeks, you will be asked to have another scan at 32-34 weeks just to be sure that it has moved out of the way. It is only if part of the placenta is still covefring your cervix that you will need a Caesarean.
