Do I have to rest for a week after an amnio?

No, the risk of miscarriage following invasive tests such as amniocentesis and chorion villus sampling (CVS) is usually due to bacteria that get into the womb at the time of the test, or becuase of a technical problem or mishap at the time of the test. Either way, what you do after the test is highly unlikely to influence your (luckily very small) chance of miscarrying. The only issue is that your tummy might feel sore and bruised for a day or two afterwards, so lifting and bending may be uncomfortable and is not advised.
