If I get toxoplasmosis, does this mean that my baby will be affected?

No, it does not. It depends when you become infected with the condition. If you get the disease early in pregnancy, the chances of the baby being affected are very tiny, but if the baby does get infected then there is a high chance of severe abnormality and handicap. The later you are in pregnancy when you get the infection, the more likely the baby is to become infected but the less likely the baby is to have a serious problem.
