Is it due to being pregnant that I seem to be having hot flushes?

Yes. These too are quite common in pregnancy and has to do with increased levels of the hormone progesterone in your bloodstream. Also don''t forget that you have a separate energy producing unit living inside you which is producing its own heat all the time! Hot flushes cannot be prevented, but wearing loose clothing is a solution where layers can be removed as necessary.

Hormonal Increases
The arrows show the origin of the major pregnancy hormones. Progesterone and estrogen are produced by the ovaries and later by the placenta. Oxytocin and prolactin are produced by the pituitary gland, and thyroxine is controlled by the thyroid gland.
