We have been told that IVF is our only option. How do we get this?

IVF is an expensive treatment, and it is one that not all health authorities and trust hospitals in the UK see as a priority to fund. Generally speaking, your chances of having IVF funded through the NHS reduces if you have had children before, if you are older than 40 or if your home circumstances suggest that you might be unable to look after a child. If you are unable to obtain NHS IVF, then you may have to consider private specialist IVF clinics. There is intense competition in the private IVF sector, even so you can expect to spend an average of £2000 per IVF cycle with a conception rate of approximately 30% per cycle.
