Everyone assumes because I''m having the baby that I''m always pleased about it. This just isn''t true and I feel so abnormal. Will this change?

First of all, in this respect pregnancy is no different than any other positively anticipated event when it occurs. Of course you are pleased about it after all it is something you may have worked hard on! But your life has suddenly changed...for good..for ever..and there is no going back. So much of it is unknown territory and therefore must be very scary so you ask around to be reassured that it OK to feel this way. Everyone instead tells you how you should be feeling....which bears little resemblance to how you do feel. This will change, and if this is your first baby then your lack of confidence will stem from your lack of experience so far. As you go through the pregnancy you will find that as you become more involved in the baby preparations, the greater your knowledge becomes and the more your self confidence will grow. Thus the more pleased you will become at how your life is changing.
