Is it usual to have abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding at 8 weeks of pregnancy?

Bleeding can occur at any stage in pregnancy. This may be painless (more common and less likely to be serious), or associated with painful abdominal cramps or spasms. The combination of cramping pain and vaginal bleeding needs to be investigated by either your GP or Obstetrician as a miscarriage or more rarely an ectopic pregnancy may need to be ruled out. If you develop either heavy vaginal bleeding, very severe abdominal pain with or without nausea, vomiting and feeling faint, then you should seek urgent medical help.
