Do I need to take extra vitamins in supplement form?

Not if your diet is adequate (except for folic acid). However people with very restricted diets such as vegans may need supplements for example of vitamin B12. Remember that more is not always better, and high doses of vitamin A in early pregnancy are potentially harmful to the developing fetus; that is why eating liver early in pregnancy is discouraged. There are some very good leaflets supplied by the government on the subject of food in pregnancy which you can get from your family doctor; these outline what you will need. Despite occasional interest in ''miracle'' vitamins, there is no good evidence that they can prevent pre-eclampsia, make the baby grow more etc...
