Is there anything special I should be eating when trying to get pregnant?

Yes. It is true that you need to eat the quality of food (but not the quantity) for two when you actually get pregnant. Your baby will take for itself whatever nutrients it needs at the expense of your body, so you need to make sure firstly that the nutrients are there for both of you. If you are not to become deficient in minerals and vitamins, you need to eat a balanced diet which includes as wide a variety of foods as possible. And don''t forget about folic acid supplements: these reduce the chance of spina bifida (neural tube defect).
