My mother said that she nearly died of toxaemia when she had me. Does this mean that I am going to get it?

No. Toxaemia is high blood pressure in pregnancy, otherwise known as pre-eclampsia, pre-eclamptic toxaemia (PET) or pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH). The fact that your mother had it doesn''t mean that you will, especially if your blood pressure has been fine throughout your pregnancy.
