Do I need to have an enema before I go into labour?

No. The days are gone where every woman had a shave and an enema before going into labour. Enemas are only given if you are so constipated that you would be uncomfortable in labour, and this is done at your request rather than forced on you. All women worry that they may not be able to control their bowels in labour. Try not to worry, if it does happen the midwife will be well used to dealing with it. it is very common, so she will have seen it all before.
