I was told by a friend that it''s dangerous for my baby if I have a bath in the last trimester. Why is this and is she right?

The reason this is said is because it was at one time thought women sitting in water could allow infections present in the water to travel up her vagina to her baby and so women were not allowed to bath. This is not the view today however, because it is known that if the bag of waters (amniotic fluid) surrounding the baby is intact, there is very little chance of infection getting through to the baby. It is therefore quite safe for you to bath or shower in the last trimester of pregnancy. Beware of getting stuck in the bath because of your shape. We have known women this has happened to!
