I'm only midway through my pregnancy; why are the palms of my hands red and feel as if they are burning?

This is called palmar erythema, and occurs because of the markedly increased blood flow through your skin tissues that occurs at this stage of pregnancy. It is not dangerous, and is just a sign of the vascular (blood vessel) changes that accompany pregnancy.
