I seem to have low backache most evenings. Is this a sign of labour?

A dull backache at your lower spine that establishes itself over a few hours and gets progressively worse may be a sign of the onset of labour, suggesting that your cervix is dilating. However this would not happen every evening! Throughout your pregnancy hormones relax your ligaments and muscles and with the weight of your growing baby all of this can take its toll on your back. Being on your feet for long periods can contribute and when it comes towards the end of the day your back is tired and strained. Persistent low back pain may indicate a urinary infection but it would normally be coupled with other symptoms such as pain, itching or burning when weeing.
