Early ultrasound scan can sometimes show a small amount of blood in the cavity of your uterus or blood or fluid in the pelvis (ie outside your uterus but within your abdomen). There are several possible causes and usually it isn't a problem and resolves. However if there is a lot of blood seen on scan, and you have low abdominal pain after 5 weeks, especially if left or right sided, then this would need further investigation and explanation by your doctor.
