What are the chances of having a child with fetal alcohol syndrome as a birth defect? does it run in families?

Fetal alcohol syndrome is only found in the babies of women who drink excessive alcohol in pregnancy. It affects baby's growth, facial features and development and does not run in families, so cannot be passed on through genes.
